Wyken Boys v PSA Peugeot Citroen Blue at Richard Lee
Traffic problems meant that PSA had to change their side
at the last minute. The first half of the game was end
to end between two sides who last season drew both games
against each other. PSA had a good chance when Darius
Gichini went through but unfortunately drilled the ball
just wide of the post. Wyken Boys had a chance to take
the lead, but a fine save by John Gibbons in the PSA
goal kept it out. Wyken broke away and two failed
clearances by the PSA defence allowed Wyken Boys to take
the lead. 1 - 0. PSA carried on piling the pressure and
nearly equalised when Reegan Hardy put over a good
corner that was only just deflected wide by the Wyken
Boys defence.
Half time 1 - 0 to Wyken Boys.
PSA started the second half with a point to prove and
were quickly moving the ball around a lot better. Dean
Pharaoh drilled in a shot that was stopped in the box by
one of the hands of the Wyken boys defence. Jake Powell
then thumped the resulting penalty into the bottom
corner . 1 - 1.
Just shortly after the goal Darius Gichini hit a long
range shot that was tipped onto the ball by the keeper
and over for a corner. PSA kept pressing looking for the
winning goal whilst Wyken Boys were hitting PSA on the
attack, but some sound defending from Sam Moore, Connor
O'Dowd and in goal John Gibbons kept them out.
With 2 minutes injury time to be played Reegan Hardy was
put through, he went round one defender and then very
calmly slotted the ball home to make it 2 - 1 to PSA.
PSA kept putting on the pressure and Stefan Jones nearly
added another.
Final Score - Wyken Boys 1 PSA Blue 2. |
